Start First, Worry Later

Sometimes the truth is so simple that we almost overlook it. The key is in doing.

And yet I catch myself forgetting it, or overthinking it until the spark fades. It could be so easy: trying new ideas, testing techniques, mixing colors I’ve never touched before. Or wearing an outfit that’s bold, bright, unapologetically expressive. Something that says, “Here I am.” Why not. Who decides what’s “too much” anyway.

The funny thing is: the more I think about doing, the less I actually do. But the moment I simply begin, without perfection, without a plan, something shifts. Creativity doesn’t wait for permission. It waits for movement.

Inspiration Between Colors

Recently, I visited an exhibition by Angela Sommerhof. Her new series Body in Motion, inspired by her stay in Australia, captivated me instantly. The colors seemed to breathe. The compositions felt like captured movement: fluid, effortless, full of life.

We started talking, and within minutes I felt that familiar warmth of meeting someone who speaks the same visual language. Someone who understands how colors can carry emotion, how a brushstroke can feel like a heartbeat. It was one of those conversations that stay with you long after you’ve left the room.

What struck me most wasn’t just her work, but the feeling it triggered: joy, lightness, curiosity. A reminder of why I paint in the first place. Sometimes it takes another artist’s courage to wake up your own.

When Prints Look Like Originals

Then I came across her Fine Art Prints and I genuinely couldn’t believe they were prints. The texture, the depth, the richness of the colors. Everything looked like an original. Only when the person who supports Angela in producing her prints explained the process did I understand why. They work with a German agency known for its award‑winning printing techniques, a team that treats each print like a piece of art in its own right. (Not able to tell you more, about it but I’ll catch up on that. Promise!)

A Moment That Opened Doors

Somewhere in that conversation, I heard myself say that I’d love to create prints of my own work in the near future. It slipped out naturally, almost casually. But inside, something clicked.

Isn’t it wild? I go to an exhibition, admire someone else’s journey and suddenly I’m reminded of my own. A small moment becomes a nudge, a spark, a quiet voice saying: Just do it. Start.

Sometimes inspiration doesn’t arrive with fireworks. Sometimes it arrives in a hallway, in a conversation, in the soft realization that the next step is already waiting for you.

The Courage to Embrace Imperfection

There’s another person who embodies this spirit of doing: Özlem Turan, founder of Realm of Couture – please check her Instagram Profil: Realm of Couture. A fashion label for modern, wearable elegance. I adore her dresses the fabrics, the colors, and yes, the pockets. (Pockets are a love language.)

I had the chance to support her during the creation of her first collection. At the photoshoot, one of my paintings hung in the background as decoration. A small detail, but for me, a quiet milestone. A reminder that art finds its place in the world in unexpected ways.

The Sentence That Woke Me Up

But what impressed me most, happened before the shoot. As so often, not everything went according to plan. And Özlem simply said:

“I could have postponed it. But who guarantees it will be any different next time.”

I had to pause for a moment. Because she was right. I so often wait for the perfect day, the perfect mood, the perfect version of myself. But perfection is a moving target. And waiting rarely brings me closer to it.

Her words echoed in me.

What Art Can Set in Motion

You’ve made it this far, so now you’ve earned a glimpse of the painting I created for the shoot. While working on it, I focused on building depth and shaping an atmosphere that feels both welcoming and softly clouded, something you can step into, almost like a quiet breath. With that, my new Artwork „Quiet breath“.
